Skyhigh Security delivers a security service edge (SSE) platform combining cloud access security broker (CASB), secure web gateway, zero trust network access, and data loss prevention capabilities to control how users and data move between endpoints, cloud applications, and the open web. The platform gives security teams visibility into sanctioned and unsanctioned (shadow IT) cloud application usage and enforces consistent data protection policy across that traffic.
The company was spun out of McAfee Enterprise in 2022 as part of a broader restructuring by owner Symphony Technology Group (STG), which separated the McAfee Enterprise business into Trellix (threat detection and XDR) and Skyhigh Security (cloud/data security), and is headquartered in San Jose, California. This gave Skyhigh a large existing CASB customer base inherited from McAfee’s earlier acquisition of Skyhigh Networks, one of the original CASB pioneers.
At the 2026 Global InfoSec Awards, Skyhigh Security won across three categories: Best Solution for Insider Threats, Most Innovative Cybersecurity Company, and Publisher’s Choice for IT Vendor Risk Management, reflecting continued investment in its SSE and data-protection platform following the 2022 corporate split.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
Continued expanding its SSE/CASB platform post-spinoff, but as a carve-out of an established McAfee Enterprise business, its pace reflects platform maturation rather than greenfield innovation.
Gives security teams visibility and control over cloud application and data usage, including shadow IT discovery, a persistent practical need for enterprises managing SaaS sprawl.
Inherited a large existing CASB customer base from Skyhigh Networks/McAfee, and won three categories at the 2026 Global InfoSec Awards, indicating sustained relevance post-spinoff.
A mature, scaled SSE/CASB incumbent competing against Netskope, Zscaler, and Palo Alto Networks in an established category rather than redefining how cloud security is delivered.
Long operating history (via its Skyhigh Networks/McAfee lineage) and continued enterprise adoption suggest the platform works reliably, though no specific independent test results were found in this research.
SSE and CASB capabilities remain core to cloud security architectures, though the category is increasingly consolidating into broader SASE platforms from larger competitors.
Why CISOs Should Care
Provides consolidated visibility and policy enforcement across cloud apps, web traffic, and private application access, reducing blind spots from shadow IT and unmanaged SaaS use.
What Makes It Different
Carries deep CASB heritage from being one of the original cloud access security broker pioneers (Skyhigh Networks), now repositioned as a broader SSE platform post-McAfee split.
The Matrix Verdict
60/100 — INCREMENTAL INNOVATOR
A mature, well-adopted SSE/CASB platform with real enterprise scale; solid incumbent rather than a disruptive newcomer.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
Award category wins are from the vendor-submission-based Global InfoSec Awards program; company history (McAfee Enterprise split) is independently documented industry knowledge.
