Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 6, 2026

This page explains what cookies and similar technologies Cyber Defense Genius uses, and how you can control them.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They’re used for things like keeping you logged in, remembering preferences, or measuring how a site is used.

Cookies We Use

Cookie Purpose Type
wordpress_logged_in_* Keeps you logged in to your CISO Reviewer account Strictly necessary
wordpress_test_cookie Checks whether your browser accepts cookies during login Strictly necessary
wp-settings-* Remembers admin/editor interface preferences (editorial team only) Strictly necessary
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics 4 — measures aggregate site usage Analytics

Third-Party Resources

A few pages load resources directly from third-party servers. These aren’t cookies, but they can expose your IP address to that provider when the resource loads:

  • Google Fonts — used for the Site’s typography, loaded from Google’s servers.
  • Map tiles (CartoDB / OpenStreetMap) — loaded on the Vendor Map page.

How to Control Cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time — check your browser’s help documentation for instructions, since the process varies by browser. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent you from staying logged in to a CISO Reviewer account.

To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookie Settings

On your first visit, you’ll see a banner asking whether to accept or reject non-essential (analytics) cookies. Strictly-necessary cookies — the ones that keep you logged in — always apply regardless of that choice, since the Site can’t function without them. Google Analytics only loads if you accept.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page, which reopens the banner.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the cookies and third-party services we use change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
