Overview

Anjuna Security builds software that makes confidential computing usable at enterprise scale. Confidential computing — running workloads inside hardware-isolated, encrypted memory enclaves (using chip-level technology from Intel, AMD, and cloud providers’ Nitro Enclaves) — has existed for years, but historically required developers to rewrite applications specifically for enclave constraints. Anjuna’s platform is built to remove that barrier, letting existing, unmodified applications and AI workloads run inside secure enclaves across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises infrastructure.

The company’s more recent focus, Anjuna Seaglass AI Clean Rooms, extends this to a specific and increasingly urgent problem: letting multiple parties (or a company and its AI vendor) jointly process or train on sensitive data without any party being able to see the other’s raw data, and without exposing model weights or proprietary datasets to the infrastructure provider itself. This addresses a real gap in enterprise AI adoption — regulated industries want the benefits of large models without giving up custody of sensitive data to get there.

Founded in 2019 and based in Palo Alto, California, Anjuna raised a $25 million Series B2 round in August 2024 led by M Ventures (Merck KGaA’s venture arm) and SineWave Ventures, bringing total disclosed funding to roughly $55 million. Existing investors including Insight Partners and Playground Global participated, which lends some credibility beyond Anjuna’s own claims, though independent, named case studies of the platform protecting production AI workloads at scale are still limited in public reporting.

Innovation Matrix Assessment

Innovation Velocity 7/10

Anjuna moved from general-purpose confidential-computing enablement to a specific AI-focused product line (Seaglass AI Clean Rooms) in direct response to enterprise AI data-sharing demand, showing responsive roadmap evolution.

Operational Value 6/10

With roughly $55M in total disclosed funding across three rounds and backing from Insight Partners and Playground Global alongside newer investor M Ventures, Anjuna has institutional backing consistent with a growth-stage but still mid-size vendor.

Market Momentum 6/10

The $25M Series B2 in August 2024 is the most recent disclosed raise; no subsequent funding or major customer-scale announcements were found in more recent reporting, suggesting momentum but not yet a clear inflection point.

Category Disruption 7/10

Removing the need to rewrite applications for hardware enclaves, and extending that to multi-party AI data clean rooms, addresses a genuine adoption barrier that has kept confidential computing niche despite years of chip-level availability.

Real-World Efficacy 4/10

Public reporting did not surface named enterprise customers or independent audits of production deployments; effectiveness claims currently rely on Anjuna's own product and press materials.

Enduring Relevance 8/10

As enterprises push sensitive data into third-party AI models and cloud infrastructure, the ability to cryptographically guarantee data and model isolation is an increasingly central requirement for regulated industries, making this a highly relevant category right now.

Why CISOs Should Care

CISOs at organizations that want to use third-party AI models or cloud infrastructure with regulated or proprietary data get a way to keep that data cryptographically isolated from the infrastructure provider and other parties, without an application rewrite.

What Makes It Different

Anjuna's platform runs existing, unmodified applications and AI workloads inside hardware enclaves, rather than requiring developers to build specifically for enclave constraints as most earlier confidential-computing tooling required.

The Matrix Verdict

63/100 — INCREMENTAL INNOVATOR

A credible, well-funded player addressing a real and growing problem — secure multi-party AI data sharing — though independent proof of large-scale production efficacy has not yet caught up with the funding and positioning.

Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings

Funding amounts and investor identities are independently reported by multiple outlets (Forbes, GlobeNewswire); claims about product capability, ease of adoption, and security guarantees are drawn from Anjuna's own materials and have not been independently verified against named customer deployments.
