Axonius
New York-based CAASM pioneer that aggregates data from hundreds of existing tools to build a unified, agentless asset and attack surface inventory.
Visit Website ↗Overview
Axonius was founded in 2017 by Dean Sysman, Ofri Shur, and Avidor Bartov and is headquartered in New York. It has raised roughly $865 million across eight rounds, including a $200 million Series E extension in March 2024 at a $2.6 billion valuation led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Accel, and by 2024 had surpassed 500 customers including Fortune 500 companies such as Schneider Electric, News Corp, and Anheuser-Busch InBev, as well as U.S. Department of Defense agencies.
Rather than scanning the internet or endpoints directly, Axonius integrates with hundreds of existing security and IT tools — endpoint agents, cloud consoles, identity providers, vulnerability scanners — and correlates that data into a single, deduplicated asset inventory, deployable in minutes without new agents. This aggregation-based approach helped establish Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management (CAASM) as its own category, distinct from EASM’s internet-scanning model, and Axonius has been estimated to hold roughly 36% share of that category as of early 2025.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
Expanded from core CAASM into SaaS management and broader security asset management, with sustained high ARR growth reflected in successive up-rounds.
Agentless correlation of data already sitting in hundreds of existing tools gives security teams a fast, low-friction path to a unified asset inventory.
$865M total raised, a $2.6B valuation, 500+ customers including Fortune 500 companies and DoD agencies, and an estimated 36% CAASM category share as of February 2025.
Building an asset inventory by correlating existing tool data rather than performing new scans effectively created the CAASM category as an alternative to EASM's internet-scanning model.
Adoption by security-mature, regulated organizations including U.S. Department of Defense agencies is a meaningful signal of real operational trust.
The problem of fragmented, siloed asset data across hundreds of tools only grows as organizations add more cloud, SaaS, and identity systems.
Why CISOs Should Care
A CISO gets a single, deduplicated asset inventory built from tools already deployed across the environment, deployable in minutes, without adding new agents or scanning infrastructure.
What Makes It Different
Instead of scanning the internet or endpoints to discover assets, Axonius correlates data that already exists across an organization's hundreds of existing security and IT tools, creating the CAASM category as a distinct alternative to EASM's scan-based model.
The Matrix Verdict
78/100 — MEANINGFUL INNOVATOR
One of the strongest momentum stories in the broader attack surface category, with real category-defining disruption (CAASM) and enterprise-scale, security-mature adoption backing its valuation — among the higher-tier entrants in this list.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
Funding, valuation, customer count, and DoD adoption are corroborated by multiple independent outlets (SecurityWeek, FinTech Futures, Axonius press releases); the 36% CAASM market-share estimate is a third-party analyst figure and should be treated as an estimate rather than an audited statistic.
