Overview

SK shieldus is headquartered in Pangyo, South Korea. It was formed in 2021 through the merger of SK Infosec (cybersecurity, from 2000) and ADT Caps (physical security, from 1971). EQT acquired the company in 2023 for about KRW 3 trillion, and describes it as the largest managed security service provider in South Korea.

The company provides managed security, MDR, consulting and physical security services to roughly 700,000 commercial customers, according to EQT. In February 2026 it was named a Major Player in IDC’s Asia Pacific MDR assessment.

Managed security and MDR for Korean enterprises and SMBs at national scale.

Large customer base, EQT's multi-billion-dollar acquisition and IDC MDR placement indicate strong adoption.

Category Disruption 3/10

Large incumbent MSSP; cyber-physical convergence is notable but not disruptive.

IDC placement and national scale give some independent evidence; no independent detection test found.

Enduring Relevance 6/10

Korean demand for managed security and cyber-physical services should endure.

Why CISOs Should Care

Combines cybersecurity operations with a large physical security business under one owner.

The Matrix Verdict

58/100 — INCREMENTAL INNOVATOR

SK shieldus is an Incremental Innovator: a large, well-evidenced MSSP whose strength is scale and breadth rather than technical disruption.

Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings

Customer-count and 'largest MSSP' statements are from EQT and company materials; the IDC Major Player placement is independent. Employee figures from aggregators were inconsistent and omitted.
