Protect AI built tools to discover, scan and secure machine learning models and AI applications end-to-end, including model file scanning for embedded malicious code, an MLSecOps platform for securing ML pipelines, and AI security posture management capabilities. Its ModelScan and Guardian tooling were widely used in the open-source ML security community before the acquisition.
Palo Alto Networks completed its acquisition of Protect AI on July 22, 2025, for total consideration of $634.5M ($607.4M cash plus $27.1M in replacement equity awards), per Palo Alto Networks’ own investor disclosures. Protect AI’s technology and team have since been absorbed into Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma AIRS platform; Protect AI’s website now redirects directly to the Prisma AIRS product page, confirming the product no longer operates as an independent brand.
