MONITORAPP builds web application firewall and web application and API protection (WAAP) technology, sold both as on-premises appliances and, through its AIONCLOUD business, as a SaaS security service. Its AIWAF and AIWAAP products inspect inbound and outbound web traffic to block OWASP Top 10 attacks, OWASP API Top 10 abuse, Layer 7 DDoS, and malicious bot traffic, while AIONCLOUD packages website protection, secure internet access, and zero-trust-based secure remote access into a single cloud service aimed at organizations that don’t want to run WAF appliances themselves.

Founded in 2005 in South Korea, MONITORAPP built its base as an appliance-security vendor before launching AIONCLOUD in 2015 to extend into cloud-delivered security as customer traffic and infrastructure moved off-premises. The company describes itself as the leading WAF vendor in the Korean market, citing more than 4,000 customer references spanning public sector, financial services, and general enterprise accounts in that market.

MONITORAPP’s relevance to CISOs outside Korea is more limited than its regional footprint suggests — its customer base and channel are concentrated in the APAC region, and independent third-party evaluation data (e.g., MITRE or major analyst comparisons) was not found in available sources. It’s a legitimate, long-running WAF/WAAP vendor worth tracking as API security and bot mitigation demand grows, but buyers outside its home region should expect a smaller support and integration ecosystem than global WAAP leaders.
