Mate Security

Mate is building an AI agent platform for security operations centers that aims to go beyond alert triage assistants. Its pitch is that effective SOC automation requires a persistent, memory-based understanding of each customer’s specific environment — its assets, prior incidents, and normal behavior — rather than a generic LLM layered on top of existing SIEM and EDR tools. The platform integrates with SIEM, EDR, and email security products to correlate evidence and investigate alerts using LLM-powered reasoning agents.

The company was founded in early 2025 by CEO Asaf Wiener, a former product leader at Wiz and Microsoft; CPO Oren Saban, formerly head of product for Microsoft Defender XDR and Security Copilot; and CTO Guy Pergal, a veteran of Microsoft’s threat intelligence center and former engineering leader at Axonius. That pedigree helped it move unusually fast: Mate emerged from stealth in November 2025 with a $15.5 million seed round from Team8 and Insight Partners, then closed a $35 million Series A roughly eight months later led by Canaan Partners, with Insight Partners, Team8, and Microsoft’s M12 fund also participating.

Mate says it is running early pilots with major financial institutions and critical infrastructure operators in the US and Europe, though it has not named specific customers publicly. It competes in an increasingly crowded field of AI-SOC-analyst startups that includes Exaforce, Dropzone AI, Prophet Security, and Reach Security, several of which have raised comparable or larger rounds.
