Hitachi Cyber

Hitachi Cyber is the current brand for Hitachi’s managed cybersecurity services business, tracing back to Hitachi Systems Security Inc., founded in Montreal in 1999. The unit runs 24/7 managed security services from global security operations centers — real-time threat monitoring, incident escalation and response, vulnerability management, and security analytics — alongside professional services such as penetration testing, PCI/GDPR compliance assessments, and privacy and risk assessments. Its ISO 9001 and ISO 27001-certified managed security service delivery has historically served several hundred private and government organizations across dozens of countries.

In October 2022, Hitachi Systems Security merged with Cumulus Systems (a Hitachi-owned performance analytics business) to form Hitachi Systems Trusted Cyber Management, with Hitachi Systems Security continuing as a subsidiary of the combined entity. In 2024, Hitachi Cyber announced a partnership with Nozomi Networks to add OT and IoT monitoring capability, extending the unit’s reach from traditional IT security operations into industrial and critical-infrastructure environments — a meaningful expansion given the increasing convergence of IT and OT threats.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (a large, publicly traded Japanese industrial and technology conglomerate), Hitachi Cyber does not need to compete for venture funding, and its financial backing is stable rather than growth-driven. It competes against other large industrial-conglomerate-backed MSSPs and OT security specialists; the Nozomi Networks partnership is its most notable recent move to stay relevant as OT/ICS security becomes a bigger part of enterprise risk conversations.
