Frenetik
A Maryland startup using a newly patented technique that rotates real cloud identities and resources to mislead attackers working from stale reconnaissance.

Frenetik emerged from stealth in December 2025 with a cyber deception approach it calls “Deception In-Use,” built around a newly issued U.S. patent (No. 12,463,981) titled “Systems and Methods for Counter-Reconnaissance in Cloud Infrastructure to Disrupt Adversarial Targeting.” Instead of deploying static decoys and waiting for an attacker to stumble onto them, as traditional deception tools do, Frenetik continuously rotates the identities and resources an organization is actually using across Microsoft Entra (M365), AWS, Google Cloud, and on-premises systems. Details of each rotation move through out-of-band channels accessible only to trusted parties, so an attacker working from reconnaissance gathered even a short time earlier gets routed toward decoys instead of live assets.
Founder Hans Ismirnioglou frames the bet as information asymmetry rather than a compute or detection-model arms race: if defenders can keep attackers uncertain which assets are currently real, the attacker’s prior reconnaissance loses value regardless of how sophisticated their tooling is. The company is based in Bethesda, Maryland.
Frenetik is very early stage. It has disclosed no funding round, customer, or employee count, and its only public evidence is a single press release republished across trade outlets. The patent and underlying mechanism are real and distinct from static deception, but there is no independent test of how the rotation approach holds up against a determined, patient attacker, and the free community edition is the extent of what’s currently verifiable.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
The company launched with a granted US patent already in hand rather than a pending application, suggesting real engineering and legal groundwork ahead of its public debut.
Continuously rotating real identities/resources could meaningfully raise attacker cost if it works as described, but the operational burden and false-positive risk of such rotation on legitimate users and automation is untested.
The company has disclosed no funding, customers, or headcount; all available information traces to a single December 2025 press release syndicated across trade outlets.
Actively rotating genuine, in-use identities and resources (rather than deploying static fake ones) is a mechanically different take on deception that directly targets the staleness of attacker reconnaissance.
There is no independent evaluation, customer evidence, or red-team validation of the approach; all efficacy claims originate from the company's own launch materials.
As AI-assisted reconnaissance speeds up attacker targeting, techniques that invalidate stale recon data address a real and growing problem, supporting relevance if the product matures.
Why CISOs Should Care
A CISO gets a way to make an attacker's earlier reconnaissance of the environment unreliable, rather than relying solely on detecting the attacker after they act on that reconnaissance.
What Makes It Different
It rotates genuinely in-use identities and resources across cloud and on-prem environments instead of deploying static honeypots, aiming to make any reconnaissance an attacker gathers go stale quickly.
The Matrix Verdict
45/100 — EMERGING / UNRANKED
Frenetik lands in the Emerging/Unranked tier: a patented, mechanically interesting deception twist from a company that just launched, with zero independent evidence of real-world efficacy or traction yet.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
All details come from the company's own December 2025 launch press release; no independent reporting, customer references, or third-party testing were found to corroborate the approach's real-world effectiveness.
