EfficientIP builds SOLIDserver, a DDI (DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management) platform aimed at making core IP network infrastructure both more automated and more secure. Its security angle centers on the DNS layer specifically — a network foundation that’s frequently overlooked until it’s exploited for data exfiltration, DNS tunneling, or as a DDoS amplification vector. The company’s Hybrid DNS Engine runs two different DNS technologies in parallel to eliminate a single point of failure and mitigate zero-day DNS vulnerabilities, and its DDI platform is also marketed as a building block for zero trust network segmentation.

Founded in Paris in 2004, EfficientIP has grown to roughly 270 employees and reports more than 1,500 customers across financial services, telecom, energy, retail, education and the public sector. In mid-2026, private equity firm Francisco Partners acquired the company, a transaction that gives it fresh institutional backing after two decades as an independent, founder-led business.

EfficientIP’s differentiation is narrower and more infrastructure-focused than most network security vendors: it isn’t trying to replace a firewall or SASE stack, but to harden the DNS/DHCP/IPAM layer those systems all depend on. That’s a real and often underserved need, validated by a long customer roster and third-party Gartner Peer Insights reviews, even if it doesn’t carry the same category-redefining weight as newer zero trust or SASE platforms.
