NanoCo develops NanoClaw, an open-source AI agent framework built as a security-focused alternative to OpenClaw. Rather than running with broad access to a host’s services and credentials, NanoClaw runs agents sandboxed in containers. Brothers Gavriel and Lazer Cohen built it after shutting down a previous AI marketing startup.
NanoCo announced a $12 million seed round in May 2026 led by Valley Capital Partners, with Docker, Vercel, Monday.com, Slow Ventures and Clem Delangue participating, and has a partnership with Docker. The founders say many thousands of people use NanoClaw and that it has begun signing enterprise customers with forward-deployed engineering support; those customers are not named.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
Went from first commit to a term sheet in under six weeks and announced a Docker partnership within months.
Container isolation limits agent blast radius, a practical control for teams deploying agents.
Notable seed with Docker and Vercel as backers and reported wide open-source uptake, but no named enterprise customers.
Isolation-by-default for agents is a meaningful design stance, though sandboxing itself is an established technique.
Adoption is reported by press and founders; no independent security assessment found.
Securing agent execution should remain important as agents gain access to credentials and tools.
Why CISOs Should Care
Offers a way to run AI agents without giving them host-wide access to credentials and services.
What Makes It Different
Defaults to running each agent in a container sandbox rather than directly on the host.
The Matrix Verdict
60/100 — INCREMENTAL INNOVATOR
NanoCo scores as an Incremental Innovator at the top of the band: strong momentum and a sound design choice, but evidence of efficacy against real threats is thin.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
User counts and executive-adoption claims come from the founders and are unverified; customers are unnamed. Tel Aviv HQ is single-source.
