Pluto Security provides visibility and control over the AI tools employees use and build, including skills, browser extensions, MCP servers, and internally built apps and agents. It connects to existing endpoint security and device management systems and can also deploy its own sensors to endpoints.
The product can intervene while an agent is running, aiming to enforce policy without blocking AI adoption. The company also publishes threat research and operates a free AI supply chain security hub, Plutonium, backed by its RisksDB database.
It emerged from stealth in October 2026 with $42 million raised across a seed and a Series A, and reports more than 30 enterprise customers.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
Founded in August 2025 and shipped a platform, a research arm and a free threat hub within about a year, per press coverage.
Targets the real gap of shadow AI and employee-built agents using existing endpoint tooling, reducing deployment friction.
$42M raised and 30+ named-category enterprise customers (Oscar Health, Workato, Sixt, AlphaSense per TechCrunch), but only just out of stealth.
Governing employee-built AI at runtime is a newer approach than pure discovery, but the space is crowded with AI-security entrants.
Little independent evidence yet; the ~$2M ARR and endpoint counts are company-reported and no independent testing was found.
Employee AI usage and agent sprawl will grow, making this control point durable, though category consolidation is likely.
Why CISOs Should Care
Employees are adopting and building AI agents faster than security can inventory them; this gives a way to see and constrain that activity.
What Makes It Different
It focuses on the AI workspace at the endpoint, intervening mid-agent-run rather than only scanning configurations.
The Matrix Verdict
58/100 — INCREMENTAL INNOVATOR
Pluto Security scores as an Incremental Innovator. Its timing and funding are strong, but efficacy evidence is thin and the AI-governance space is crowded.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
ARR, endpoint and customer counts come from the company and press coverage of its launch; no independent efficacy tests were found.
