CyberRidge
Photonic-layer encryption that converts transmitted data into optical noise, defending fiber communications against quantum-era decryption.

CyberRidge has built a plug-and-play photonic-layer transmission system that transforms data into encrypted optical noise before it travels across fiber, making intercepted traffic indecipherable without a proprietary photonic key that changes every fraction of a second. Since more than 95% of the world’s digital communication travels through fiber cables, the approach directly targets “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, where adversaries capture encrypted traffic today to decrypt once sufficiently powerful quantum computers exist.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, CyberRidge is led by CEO Prof. Dan Sadot and CTO Dr. Eyal Wohlgemuth. The company raised an initial $10 million seed round from Awz, followed by a $16 million extension involving Arkin Capital, Redseed VC, Elron Ventures, and the EU Horizon-EIC program, and its technology is already being tested by telecommunications providers, defense organizations, and intelligence agencies in Europe, Singapore, and Australia.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
Moved from a $10M seed to active pilot testing with telecom, defense, and intelligence customers across three continents in roughly four years.
Protects data in transit against a threat (harvest-now-decrypt-later) that most organizations' current encryption roadmaps do not yet address.
A $26M total raise and multi-country pilot deployments are meaningful for a deep-tech startup, though still early relative to established encryption vendors. Recognized in Cyber Defense Media Group's 2026 Global InfoSec Awards (1 award), independently juried industry validation of market traction.
Photonic-layer encryption is a fundamentally different physical-layer approach to data-in-transit protection, distinct from mathematical post-quantum cryptography algorithms.
Pilot deployment with telecom and defense/intelligence organizations is a credible signal, but independent, published performance validation at production scale was not found.
As quantum computing advances, protecting today's fiber traffic against future decryption is a rapidly growing priority across defense, finance, and telecom.
Why CISOs Should Care
Protects highly sensitive data in transit today against decryption by tomorrow's quantum computers, a threat model most current encryption strategies don't cover.
What Makes It Different
Physical-layer photonic encryption that turns data into optical noise, rather than relying solely on mathematically-based post-quantum cryptographic algorithms.
The Matrix Verdict
73/100 — MEANINGFUL INNOVATOR
A genuinely novel deep-tech approach to post-quantum data protection with credible early defense and telecom validation; still proving out at scale.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
Pilot customer details are vendor-published; the underlying photonic technology is described in peer-reviewed and EU Horizon program materials.
