Qrypt
A New York-based company generating true quantum entropy as a service to strengthen encryption keys used by HSMs and key management systems.

Qrypt, founded in 2017 and based in New York, focuses on a narrower but foundational problem in quantum-safe cryptography: the quality of randomness used to generate encryption keys. Its Quantum Entropy-as-a-Service and Quantum Entropy Appliance deliver true quantum-generated randomness to hardware security modules and key management systems, on the premise that even PQC algorithms are only as strong as the entropy feeding their key generation. The company also offers a Quantum-Secure IPsec Gateway and digital quantum key distribution capability.
Qrypt has a research agreement with Los Alamos National Laboratory, giving it a credible independent research relationship beyond its commercial product line, and in March 2026 Fortanix announced it was expanding its Data Security Manager to incorporate quantum entropy from Qrypt (alongside Quantum Dice), a real third-party integration rather than a self-reported claim. Funding reporting is inconsistent across aggregators, but a Series A in the range of tens of millions of dollars is the most consistent figure available.
What differentiates Qrypt from most PQC vendors is its focus on entropy generation rather than algorithm implementation — a less visible but structurally important layer of the quantum-safe stack. The tradeoff is that entropy-as-a-service is a narrower, more technical sell than full migration platforms, and public customer evidence beyond the Fortanix integration and the Los Alamos relationship is limited.
Innovation Matrix Assessment
Has moved from a research-stage entropy concept to shipping an entropy appliance and landing a concrete 2026 integration into Fortanix's Data Security Manager.
Strengthens the weakest-link problem of key generation for teams that already operate HSMs and KMS infrastructure, without requiring a platform swap.
The Fortanix integration is real third-party adoption; funding figures across aggregators are inconsistent, which limits confidence in the full momentum picture.
Focusing specifically on true quantum entropy as a discrete, deliverable service is a meaningfully different angle than most PQC vendors, who focus on algorithms rather than randomness quality.
A research agreement with Los Alamos National Laboratory and a live Fortanix integration are independently corroborated, real-world signals rather than lab claims alone.
High-quality entropy will remain foundational to cryptographic security regardless of which PQC algorithms ultimately dominate.
Why CISOs Should Care
Addresses a structural weak point — key-generation randomness — that most PQC migration projects don't directly solve.
What Makes It Different
Sells entropy generation as its own product layer rather than bundling it inside a broader PQC platform.
The Matrix Verdict
60/100 — INCREMENTAL INNOVATOR
An Incremental Innovator solving a genuinely underserved technical problem, with credible research and integration partners but limited disclosed commercial scale.
Editorial Note: Claims vs. Verified Findings
Funding totals conflict across PitchBook, CB Insights, and Startup-Seeker and are treated here as directional rather than precise; the Los Alamos research relationship and Fortanix integration are corroborated by independent reporting.
