WALLIX, founded in 2003 by Jean-Noel de Galzain and headquartered in Paris, is one of the few privileged access management vendors that is a publicly traded, independently audited company, listed on Euronext Paris. That public listing gives outside observers a level of financial transparency that most PAM vendors, which are private and venture-backed, do not offer, and WALLIX has used two decades of operation to build particular depth in regulatory-driven markets, especially French critical infrastructure.

The company’s Bastion platform handles privileged password and session management, credential vaulting, and auditing of privileged activity, and it holds certification from ANSSI (France’s national cybersecurity agency), making it the reference PAM solution for French Operators of Vital Importance (OIV), critical infrastructure operators subject to strict national security requirements. That certification is a meaningful, independently verifiable efficacy signal rarely available for PAM vendors outside government-linked evaluation programs, and WALLIX has also built out OT/ICS-specific privileged access capabilities, an area of growing concern as industrial environments connect to enterprise networks.

WALLIX operates in a PAM market dominated by larger, well-funded competitors (CyberArk, Delinea, BeyondTrust), and its Gartner Magic Quadrant recognition as a PAM leader reflects real technical credibility, but its revenue and market share remain smaller than the category leaders. For CISOs, particularly in Europe and especially in regulated critical-infrastructure sectors, WALLIX’s ANSSI certification and GDPR-oriented design are concrete differentiators; for global enterprises outside Europe, it competes more on price and regional support than on category-defining scale.
