Andesite AI builds an AI-native security operations platform — branded the "bionic SOC" — designed to pair AI copilots directly into the analyst workflow rather than replace analysts outright. The product automates alert triage, evidence gathering, and initial investigation steps so human analysts can spend more time on proactive threat hunting instead of reactive queue-clearing, targeting the alert-fatigue and staffing shortage problems that chronically strain security operations centers.

Founded in 2023 by Brian Carbaugh, a former CIA officer, and Grant Verstandig, founder and CEO of national-security-focused venture studio Red Cell Partners, Andesite is headquartered in McLean, Virginia. The company raised $15.25 million in an initial seed round in April 2024, followed by an additional $23 million seed tranche in February 2025 from General Catalyst and Red Cell Partners, bringing total funding to roughly $38.5 million. Andesite announced general availability of its bionic SOC product in early 2025.

The company sits in a crowded field of "AI SOC" entrants, but its founding team’s national-security and intelligence-community background, combined with rapid, well-backed fundraising, has generated significant early press attention. As with most companies at this stage, independently verified performance data and named enterprise deployments are still limited relative to the funding and media narrative.
