Veracity Industrial Networks

Veracity Industrial Networks, founded in 2014 and based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, takes a network-architecture approach to industrial control system (ICS) and operational technology (OT) security rather than the passive-monitoring approach most OT security vendors default to. Its platform applies software-defined networking (SDN) principles to ICS environments, building visibility, segmentation and traffic control directly into the network fabric with a deny-by-default posture: unauthorized communication paths simply don’t exist on the network, rather than being detected and alerted on after the fact.

That distinction matters in OT environments, where many established players focus on passive traffic inspection and anomaly detection layered on top of legacy, flat industrial networks. Veracity instead positions its offering as reducing the attack surface by design — converging IT-style network control and reliability practices with the availability and safety constraints that make OT networks harder to redesign than typical enterprise IT. The company reports customers across energy, food and beverage processing, water and wastewater utilities, electric power distribution and U.S. Department of Defense environments.

Veracity remains a small company by venture standards, having raised roughly $8.5 million from investors including Option 3 Ventures, Melitas Ventures and the Industry 4.0 Accelerator, with a correspondingly small team. For CISOs and OT security leads evaluating critical-infrastructure network architecture, Veracity is worth a look specifically for greenfield or network-refresh projects where building segmentation and access control into the network itself is feasible, rather than as a drop-in monitoring layer for networks that can’t be re-architected.
