Duality builds a secure data collaboration platform based on fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), letting organizations in finance, healthcare, and defense run analytics and machine learning models on data that remains encrypted throughout computation. That allows multiple parties to collaborate on sensitive datasets without ever exposing raw data to each other or to Duality itself, addressing a class of privacy problem that tokenization or masking alone cannot solve.

Founded in 2016, Duality was co-founded by a team that includes Turing Award-winning cryptographer Shafi Goldwasser alongside other established cryptographers and data scientists. Headquartered in Hoboken, New Jersey, the company has raised roughly $56 million in total funding, including a $30 million Series B led by LG Technology Ventures with participation from Intel Capital, Hearst Ventures, and Team8.

Duality’s technical credibility is unusually reinforced by U.S. government research funding: a $14.5 million DARPA contract to build a privacy-preserving hardware accelerator, and a subsequent $6 million ARPA-H award to apply its encryption technology to healthcare-equity use cases. That level of government-funded technical vetting is uncommon for a company this size in the privacy-enhancing technology space.
