Relyance AI builds a data governance platform aimed at a problem that has outgrown traditional data-mapping tools: tracking how data actually moves through an organization’s code, infrastructure, and AI/ML pipelines in real time, rather than relying on periodic manual surveys or static data-flow diagrams. Its flagship capability, Data Journeys, instruments an organization’s codebase and data infrastructure to build a live, continuously updated map of data lineage, which the platform then uses to power privacy compliance workflows, data security posture, and AI governance (tracking what data trains or feeds which models) from a single source of truth.

Founded in 2020 by Abhi Sharma and Leila Golchehreh and based in San Mateo, California, Relyance AI has raised $62 million to date, including a $32 million Series B led by Thomvest Ventures in October 2024 that also drew participation from Microsoft’s M12 venture fund. The company counts Coinbase, Snowflake, Plaid, Notion, Logitech, Fivetran, and Verkada among its named enterprise customers, and reported roughly 30% enterprise customer growth in the first half of 2024 alongside a projected doubling of annual recurring revenue for the year.

Relyance AI’s timing bet is that generative AI adoption is forcing privacy, security, and legal teams to answer questions about data provenance and AI training data that older, survey-based governance tools were never built to answer at the speed AI development moves. It competes with both legacy privacy-management platforms retrofitting AI governance features and newer AI-governance-specific entrants, with its real-time code-level lineage approach as its primary technical differentiator.
