Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Cyber Defense Genius (the “Site”) is published by Cyber Defense Media Group (“CDMG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Cyber Defense Media Group is a Nevada corporation with its principal address at 1717 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Suite 1025, Washington, DC 20006.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- CISO Reviewer registration: if you register for a CISO Reviewer account, we collect your full name, work email address, company, job title, and a password. Registrations are reviewed by our editorial team before reviewer access is granted.
- Reviews and quotes: if you submit a Matrix score, written quote, or company request as a registered reviewer, we store that submission along with your account information. You choose whether a quote is published under your name or anonymously.
- Company / featured-placement requests: if you submit the “Get Featured” or company-request form, we collect the name, email, and message you provide.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site — pages viewed, general geographic region, device/browser type, and referring site. This is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. Analytics is disabled for our own editorial team while logged in, so it reflects real visitor activity.
- Cookies: the Site uses cookies for login sessions and for the analytics described above. See our Cookie Policy for details on what’s set and how to control it.
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs IP addresses and request data for security and performance purposes.
Third-Party Resources Loaded on This Site
Some pages load resources directly from third-party servers, which can expose your IP address to that third party even if no cookie is set:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) — used for the Site’s typography.
- Map tiles (CartoDB/OpenStreetMap contributors) — loaded on the Vendor Map page to render the map background.
- Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com) — as described above.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to: operate and improve the Site; review and approve CISO Reviewer registrations; publish approved reviews and quotes; respond to company requests and inquiries; understand aggregate visitor behavior; and maintain the security of the Site.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your reviewer account data for advertising purposes.
How We Share Information
We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the Site (for example, our hosting provider and Google Analytics), and only as necessary for them to provide that service. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CDMG, our users, or others.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your CISO Reviewer profile directly from the CISO Portal, or contact us using the details below to make any other request.
If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, our legal basis for processing is generally your consent (for optional analytics and registration), our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Site, or performance of the reviewer relationship you’ve entered into with us.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Data Retention
We retain CISO Reviewer account information for as long as your account is active, and review/quote submissions for as long as they remain relevant to a company’s published Matrix score. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for cybersecurity professionals and is not directed to, and does not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 16.
International Users
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your home jurisdiction.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
